March 28th at the Company House in Halifax I am joined by arguably the best rhythm section in the Atlantic Provinces – Mark Adam (dr) and Tom Easley (bass) – for a tribute concert to Sweden’s Esbjörn Svensson Trio, a show that is part of Jazzeast’s Out Like A Lion spring music festival. I am incredibly excited about this project – we all love EST and their music has personally impacted me beyond measure.

On March 30th (Halifax – Music Room) and April 5th (Wolfville – Denton Hall) I will be joining 4 Acadia and Wolfville-based musicians (Mark Adam again, Jeff Hennessy, Eugene Cormier, and Nic D’Amato) to play Steve Reich’s recent composition 2X5 – its Atlantic Canadian premiere and a music feast for those that love Reich’s art music meets rock-jazz. The Halifax concert is presented by the Society of Dalhousie Music Students.

It’s for the cover of my next album ‘Urban Poultry & Other Hopes’, to be released this early in the fall. Since having live chickens on Barrington has immense spectator potential, I thought that it would be nice to share the news – just in case any of you are up early on a Sunday morning and want to witness something out of the ordinary… you’ll likely end up in a picture or two as well.
